There was an item in the news some time ago that a law firm had just signed a lease for larger office space in Manhattan.

I went to this law firm's website and low and behold it did in fact have job openings posted.

This is what targeting is, finding out who is making money and/or who is expanding their office space or presence in New York City and either
(a) applying for perm jobs with that company or
(b) finding out what temp agency is sending people to that company.


When I get a tip that some company is expanding, I first apply directly to the company and then I alert one of my favorite temp agencies about the company. I do this because some ahole companies will refuse to hire me as a PERM employee, but will have no problem with me being a temp there for 7 years.
