The Wall Street Journal carried a report on April 15, 2002 about a Temp who diverted 9/11 donations to his personal bank account while temping with the LA Times.
The temp created his own bank account with initials similar to the bank account of the Fund used by the LA Times and credited credit donations meant for the 9/11 Fund to his account instead of to the proper account.
The articles reports that the LA Times and Police were tipped off to the scheme because the "Thank You Letters" that the temp sent to the donors "were full of typing and gramma errors". The LA Times investigated the donations after it received numerous complaints from donors about the "Thank You Letters".
So, if you are going to steal, please, use spell check.
